Job Description
Department: Logistic Direction
Location: Douala
MISSION
Drive the efficient recovery of reusable empties from consumers through collection points, customers, distributors, and transport partners to the Distribution Centre (DC). Use data to improve return rates, reduce losses and recovery costs, support collection planning, and maintain accurate packaging accountability.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Track empty bottles, crates, kegs, containers, and other returnable packaging from consumers and collection points to the DC;
- Reconcile packaging issued, collected, transferred, received, and outstanding by location, customer, distributor, and packaging type;
- Analyse overdue returns, damage, shortages, and unexplained variances; investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions;
- Maintain accurate dashboards and exception reports showing recovery performance, outstanding balances, and return ageing;
- Forecast return volumes and flag packaging shortages or delayed returns that could affect operational availability;
- Use return volumes, location, and ageing data to prioritise collections and recommend collection frequency and recovery actions;
- Coordinate with sales, distributors, transport teams, and DC operations to improve recovery from locations with persistent return gaps;
- Support collection consolidation and delivery backhauls; analyse vehicle utilisation and collection cost per unit recovered;
- Verify collection notes, transfer records, and DC receipts; investigate discrepancies between collected and received quantities;
- Work with Finance and commercial teams to resolve packaging balance differences and assess deposit or incentive schemes, where applicable;
- Report recovery rate, return cycle time, outstanding volumes and ageing, loss and damage rates, reconciliation accuracy, and return-load utilisation;
- Present weekly and monthly insights with clear risks, recommendations, action owners, and deadlines; follow up on implementation;
- Improve data quality, system reporting, controls, and standard operating procedures; maintain accurate records supporting packaging accountability;
- In the first 90 days, map the return process, establish performance baselines and a dashboard, agree priority actions, and deliver a measurable improvement.
REQUIRED PROFILE
Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field;
Experience:
- Two to four years of experience in logistics analysis, distribution, inventory control, or supply chain operations;
